THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager – Design to lead and elevate our national design function. In this full-time leadership role, you will be responsible for shaping the design vision across the business, ensuring that our homes and communities reflect exceptional design standards, strong commercial outcomes, and buildability across all markets.

Working closely with the Chief Sales & Marketing, executive leadership and key stakeholders across development, construction, and sales, you will drive a cohesive national design strategy that aligns with business objectives, customer expectations, and emerging market trends. This is a pivotal opportunity to influence the future direction of our residential offering while leading a highly capable national team of designers.

As General Manager – Design, you will play a critical role in fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will ensure that design excellence is consistently delivered across a diverse pipeline of residential communities, while balancing creativity with commercial performance and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the National Design Function – Oversee the full residential design portfolio across multiple states, ensuring consistency, innovation, and quality across all projects and product ranges.
• Building & Inspiring High-Performing Teams – Lead, mentor, and develop a national team of designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, professional growth, and design excellence.
• Strategic Design Leadership – Define and implement the national design strategy to ensure our homes remain competitive, customer-focused, and aligned with market trends and future growth.
• Governance & Standards – Establish and maintain strong design governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, brand standards, and commercial parameters across all regions.
• Stakeholder Management – Work closely with executive leadership, development, construction, sales, and external consultants to deliver integrated, commercially sound design outcomes.
• Portfolio Oversight – Maintain oversight of program timelines, budgets, risks, and design quality across the national portfolio, ensuring design integrity from concept through to construction delivery.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement – Champion innovation, sustainability initiatives, and process improvements that enhance product differentiation, operational performance, and customer experience.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a seasoned design leader with extensive experience operating at scale within the residential development or construction sector. With a strong combination of strategic thinking and practical delivery expertise, you are confident leading national teams and driving design outcomes that balance creativity, commercial performance, and buildability.

You bring a collaborative leadership style and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the business. Your experience in establishing clear frameworks, processes, and design standards allows you to create alignment across diverse teams and projects while maintaining a strong focus on quality and innovation.
