Builders Academy Australia (BAA) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that works with employers, industry and students to achieve exceptional training results. BAA was established by Simonds Homes in 2005 for the purpose of training Simonds staff and the staff of Simonds suppliers and partners in VET courses in the residential construction sector.

Based on the principle of “builders training builders”, BAA draws on its deep connections to Simonds Homes to ensure it provides the highest quality curriculum and training services to meet industry needs. In 2018, BAA was recognised as the Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year after being a finalist for the same award in 2017 and 2020.

BAA includes two RTO's: House of Learning Pty Ltd trading as Builders Academy Australia (National RTO Code 21583) & City-Wide Building & Training Services Pty LTD trading as CWBTS (National RTO Code 91138). With close to 3000 active students, BAA delivers pre-apprenticeships through to Advanced Diploma level qualifications across 4 Australian states.

THE OPPORTUNITY

A number of roles are available for contract Trainers and Assessors across Customer Engagement and Leadership and Management qualifications including:

  • BSB40315 Certificate IV in Customer Engagement
  • BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management
  • BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management

Delivery across varied modes is available including face-to-face classroom delivery, face-to-face workplace delivery (via a Traineeship model) and via online live and interactive, video based, virtual classroom delivery.

Although face-to-face delivery will be occurring within metropolitan Melbourne and surrounding areas, experienced Trainers / Assessors are also welcome to apply from other areas of Australia, where they will be considered for online virtual classroom delivery.

Depending on the student cohort, delivery may occur within regular business hours or across evenings.

Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • The delivery and assessment of one or more of the Customer Engagement and/or Leadership and Management qualifications listed above;
  • Consulting with key clients on their existing and future workforce training needs;
  • The review, validation, moderation and continuous improvement of the training resources and assessments for the qualifications above

We are seeking motivated and experienced training professionals who have high level customer service skills, a passion for educating individuals and groups, and hold a good working knowledge of supporting students aligned with both effective pedagogy and compliance requirements in a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).  

WHO YOU ARE

To be considered for a role, you must hold/be: 

  • Recent industry experience (of at least 5 years and current);
  • The qualifications you wish to deliver and assess or equivalent qualifications or have sufficient and current vocational competence that would allow for a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process to be completed;
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • Able to work as a Sole Trader with a current ABN (part time and full time roles may also be considered for the right candidates);
  • A current driver’s licence (where face-to-face deliver is required);
  • Demonstrated ability in high level communication, negotiation and consultation skills and expertise in providing high level tertiary education;
  • Self-motivated and confident; have a positive attitude and willingness to embrace change required to help high quality customer outcomes;
  • Strong relationship building skills with expertise in the effective management of diverse internal and external stakeholder groups;
  • Ability to meet ASQA Fit & Proper persons requirements;
  • Sound knowledge of operational requirements in relation to the Standards for Registered Training Organisations in relation to training and assessment practices.

You will possess a deep passion for imparting your industry knowledge to those eager to learn and expand their careers. You have a strong customer focus, and the ability to multi-task and be flexible and adaptable in your approach.

You will be an exceptional communicator, who is able to work well both autonomously and in a team environment. The capability to build rapport and have demonstrated planning, organisational and time management skills are crucial to the role.
