Builders Academy Australia (BAA) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that works with employers, industry and students to achieve exceptional training results. BAA was established by Simonds in 2005 for the purpose of training Simonds staff and the staff of Simonds suppliers and partners in VET courses in the residential construction sector.

Based on the principle of “builders training builders”, BAA draws on its deep connections to Simonds Homes to ensure it provides the highest quality curriculum and training services to meet industry needs. In 2018, BAA was recognised as the Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year after being a finalist for the same award in 2017.

As part of the Simonds Group, which also includes leading residential homebuilder, Simonds Homes, BAA includes two RTO's: House of Learning Pty Ltd trading as Builders Academy Australia (National RTO Code 21583 - CRICOS Provider Code:03760B) & City-Wide Building & Training Services Pty LTD trading as CWBTS (National RTO Code 91138).


BAA are seeking an experienced Apprentice Placement Coordinator / Reverse Marketer who is driven to build relationships and achieve targets aligned with helping employers meet their apprenticeship and traineeship needs.

This important role will require advanced interpersonal skills to engage with employers utilising effective reverse marketing techniques, to identify and create employment opportunities (apprenticeship and traineeship positions) for our students.

Based at our St Kilda Road, Melbourne, head office, although this role is offered at full-time, applicants looking at part time roles will also be considered.

Key Tasks include;

This role is to undertake the following key tasks for both Builders Academy Australia (House of Learning - RTO ID 21583) and CWBTS (RTO ID 91138) RTO’s:

  • Communicate and coordinate employer vacancies to match these with prospective students;
  • Utilising sound reverse marketing techniques to successfully secure apprenticeship or traineeship opportunities for students;
  • Identify and attend local networking opportunities to generate employment opportunities for candidates (on occasion);
  • Liaising closely with other key departments to ensure smooth processes aligned with apprentice and trainee placement and onboarding;
  • Successfully build strong working relationships with employers and students from varying demographics;
  • Promoting to employers, via phone, email and on-occasion, face to face communication, the benefits of taking on an apprentice or trainee;
  • Working with other team members to organise and conduct group and one-on-one sessions for potential students;
  • Researching current labour market requirements to identify how areas of delivery within BAA/CWBTS can align with solutions for employers including Simonds Homes.


We are seeking a highly motivated individual with demonstrated success in a similar role within an RTO or employer/employment solutions environment and who has a commitment to ensuring best practice and great student and employer results.

It will be important that the successful applicant can create and foster close working relationships with all key staff within the team as well as external stakeholders. To do this they will be a good communicator, supportive and have a 'can-do' attitude.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Have a track record in building strong relationships with major customers, clients and external employers;
  • Hold in depth knowledge of operational requirements regarding apprenticeship or traineeship delivery in order to promote these models to employers;
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong sales or reverse marketing experience, including a proven record of meeting and exceeding sales targets/KPIs;
  • Proven ability to effectively work in a call centre/tele-sales environment, preferably within the VET or employment services sector;
  • Able to effectively engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Problem solving and negotiation skills;
  • Previous experience using the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Previous experience using a sales/CRM software and maintaining and updating a CRM database such as SalesForce (preferred);
  • Qualification/s in sales, customer service, administration or similar (desirable);
  • Ability to meet ASQA Fit & Proper persons requirements;
