Builders Academy Australia (BAA) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that works with employers, industry and students to achieve exceptional training results. BAA was established by Simonds in 2005 for the purpose of training Simonds staff and the staff of Simonds suppliers and partners in VET courses in the residential construction sector.

Based on the principle of “builders training builders”, BAA draws on its deep connections to Simonds Homes to ensure it provides the highest quality curriculum and training services to meet industry needs. In 2020 and in 2018, BAA was recognised as the Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year after being a finalist for the same award in 2017. We were also announced as the winner at the 2020 Australian Training Awards.

BAA includes two RTO's: House of Learning Pty Ltd trading as Builders Academy Australia (National RTO Code 21583) & City-Wide Building & Training Services Pty LTD trading as CWBTS (National RTO Code 91138). With close to 3000 active students, BAA delivers pre-apprenticeships through to Advanced Diploma level qualifications across 4 Australian states.


This important role will work within the Student Engagement Team to help students through their enrolment processes and then also support students across their studies to maximize their opportunities for completion of the qualification that they are studying.

This role is primarily phone based, and will be working from our St Kilda Road, Melbourne office.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual who has a keen eye for detail, high level customer service skills and holds a good working knowledge of supporting students aligned with compliance and data reporting requirements in a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).  

Key Tasks include;

  • Providing accurate enrolment advice and support to a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Working with students to complete all enrolment paperwork, including pre-training reviews, towards them beginning their studies with BAA;
  • Reviewing student training activity, including apprentice and trainee training activity and making contact with the student to provide strategies and solutions to support them in their studies;
  • Communicating effectively with students, employers, parents, and apprenticeship centres in relation to student enrolment processes and training activity, Including providing updates in relation to the progress of students undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship with Builders Academy Australia;
  • Accurately and efficiently using student data systems including VETtrak and Epsilon to process student data, including apprentice and trainee enrolment and training activity;
  • Communicating with students to develop strategies to help them towards the completion of their studies where they have been found to not be progressing academically as planned;
  • Developing reports that will aid in making informed decisions about student training activity within the RTO.


This role will suit those who have previous customer service experience and who have worked within an RTO or call centre business supporting customers towards positive outcomes.  

It will be important that the successful applicant can create and foster close working relationships with all key staff within the team. To do this they will be a good communicator, energetic approach and have a 'can-do' attitude.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to effectively work within a customer service or call centre environment, preferably within the VET sector;
  • Strong sales/customer service experience, including a proven record of meeting and exceeding targets/KPIs;
  • Hold an operational knowledge of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 (RTO Standards) in relation to student progress and data reporting.
  • Hold an operational knowledge of requirements in relation to Victorian Skills First funding contract obligations (beneficial);
  • Ability to meet ASQA Fit & Proper persons requirements;
  • Strong data quality and administration experience, to ensure accurate student records are maintained;
  • Experience using a student management system – VETtrak (highly desired);
  • Able to effectively engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Qualifications in training and assessment, business administration, customer service or similar will be highly regarded.

Please note: Our student enrolment, pre-training review and admissions team members work varied hours therefore availability between 8:30 am – 6:30pm Monday to Friday may be required.
