As a Infrastructure Engineer - Cloud & Desktop, your primary focus is to play a key role in supporting, maintaining and improving the IT services we deliver to our internal and external customers. This level 3 role will work collaboratively with external service providers to help Simonds Group transform from On-Premises to Cloud, with opportunities in the areas of Cloud Strategy, Cloud Development, Cloud Integration & APIs and Cloud Infrastructure & Engineering. This can include:

  • Providing level 3 IT end user support and troubleshooting;
  • Assisting the IT project team in developing systems/applications, new feature explorations and production release of new platform features;
  • Working with 3rd party vendors to implement cloud governance, build, deployment and monitoring cloud environments;
  • Assist in monitoring and managing operational costs in cloud environments;
  • Assist with setting up critical infrastructure and developing tools and frameworks to automate operational tasks, deployment of workstations (MDM), and empower user self-service;
  • Automating infrastructure migration to cloud environments; and
  • Managing a small team with two junior Cloud and Desktop Support Engineers. This includes educating the team on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives and providing associated training as required.


We're looking for someone who has/is:

  • Minimum 5 years in IT Infrastructure and Cloud support;
  • Minimum 5 years with server virtualization, Backup, Storage, Desktop, Network;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with any of the following technologies: AWS, VMWare, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform;
  • Programming/scripting experience (PowerShell, Python etc) and experience with API;
  • Strong knowledge of Office 365 including One Drive and SharePoint;
  • Experience and Knowledge of SQL;
  • Great knowledge and experience of MS Intune Device Management;
  • Anti-virus, Anti-Malware, Anti-spam platforms experience;
  • Cisco Meraki network technology and hardware knowledge is highly recommended;
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication and numerical skills;
  • A high standard of time management, problem solving and prioritising activities;
  • Proven ability to collaborative with multi-disciplinary teams; and
  • Strong relationship building and leadership skills with an ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
