THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a full-time Digital Communications Officer (internal) in this newly created position within our People & Culture team. Based at our Head Office on St Kilda Road (currently based remotely until COVID restrictions allow otherwise), the Digital Communications Officer is responsible for creating and overseeing the communications for Simonds Group Internal Communications (nationally) through accountabilities such as:

• Plan and implement the internal communication strategy, including internal style guide, and related documents, relating to the People & Culture team and wider corporate Simonds Group.
• Implement and monitor the communication strategy and its effectiveness throughout the business, nationally.
• Maintain relevant information on the Group’s intranet and HR Information Software (HRIS) to ensure the consistency of communication and the quality of information is maintained.
• Manage the production of daily newsletter emails via MailChimp, EDMs, as well as other internal communications. This includes setting production schedules, proofreading and editing copy, creating templates, formatting, coordinating printing where necessary.
• Develop and maintain a People brand for the Simonds Group People & Culture team that allow us to attract and retain the best people.
• Manage the Simonds Homes LinkedIn page and execute a social media strategy in line with our People brand and the Company’s vision, values and goals that allows us to attract high quality candidates in the job market.
• Create a visual strategy that enables the People & Culture team to engage our diverse audience and is consistent across our presentations, written communications and internally focused social media strategy, induction manuals, corporate strategy presentations etc.
• Help develop visuals to assist the People & Culture team in developing and maintaining engaging content through our HRIS and LMS systems, as well for events and corporate presentations.
• Help develop communication and visuals to assist the People & Culture team’s Learning & Development strategies and activities.
• Write and develop media releases where necessary for People & Culture and Corporate communications for external audiences.

Whilst this is a full-time opportunity, part-time work arrangements will also be considered across five days (Monday to Friday). Please indicate if this is your preference in your cover letter.

WHO YOU ARE
We're looking for an enthusiastic and suitably experienced communications professional with the drive to bring our content to life across numerous digital platforms. They must have excellent writing skills, creative flair, an eye for detail, and a way with words. Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage people at all levels of the organisation, and externally, with meaningful and relevant digital content is also required.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone who has:
• Tertiary qualifications in communications, digital communications, journalism or sufficient equivalent experience in a similar role.
• Understanding of website CMS platforms including Drupal, WordPress and graphics programs including Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience in digital media content creation and management for business purposes including social media and EDM campaigns.
• Knowledge of and experience with web content development and accessibility standards.
• Knowledge of and experience with HTML and CSS.
• An understanding and appreciation of the confidentiality that comes with working within a human resource department.
