THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a National Drafting Manager to support our wider VIC drafting teams, this role will be based out of our head office on St Kilda Rd. This key role will effectively support, manage and monitor the drafting workflow and objectives across the state, implementing strategies to ultimately ensure a high quality of drafting is delivered in all regions. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Business Operations some key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Implement the agreed operation’s strategies and systems across the region
  • Set objectives and benchmark targets to measure performance against business activity
  • Forecast and monitor staffing overheads and requirements across the region’s drafting teams
  • Review regional drafting outputs and performance, identify exceptions, leakages and areas for improvement
  • Ensure a consistent approach across the Group is adopted and practiced to achieve on time delivery, accurate and quality drafting services
  • Identify potential and future areas/opportunities to improve processes.
  • Review impacts of margin; establish and monitor the real cost to produce and the impacts on job margins and erosions
  • Keep abreast of current and future industry practices and innovation to be able to forecast potential industry issues and their impact on the business.
  • Identify any internal issues, development needs or constraints that may impact the delivery of drafting services across the business 
  • Consult with and keep the Regional Managers - Business Operation's informed on a regular basis regarding the delivery of drafting activities across each region.
  • Training and development of staff at a regional level
  • Provide reporting to the Executive General Manager – Business Operations and the broader business when required

WHAT YOU WILL OFFER

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has:

  • 10+ years drafting experience within residential home construction, ideally with leadership experience, Certificate IV in Architectural Drafting (or higher)
  • Advanced knowledge of drafting processes and procedures, residential construction guidelines and legal requirements in relation to building
  • Advanced knowledge of current drafting software platforms
  • Ability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement to achieve best practice and alternative ways of achieving improved and consistent drafting quality and output.
  • Experience managing and/or developing workflows and operational processes
  • Proven ability in the development, delivery, and monitoring of organisational objectives in line with operational priorities.
  • Prior experience employing and managing people and performance with the ability to lead and mentor teams and individuals in the achievement of positive outcomes.
  • The ability to engender respect and to develop and maintain a strong and positive team culture.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and consultation skills and expertise in providing advice on a range of complex matters.
  • Relationship building skills with expertise in the effective management of internal and external stakeholder groups.
