THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an Estimating Team Leader on a full-time, on-going basis. As an Estimating Team Leader your primary focus is to lead the Estimating team to ensure all required project estimates (tenders / contracts / variations / selections BOQs) are produced in accordance with customer requirements and company standards. Reporting to the Operations Manager some key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Lead, motivate and inspire the estimating (production and sales) team in order to accomplish company objectives.
  • Manage the estimating team’s workflow and deliverables.
  • Ensure that the pre-construction phase is completed in line with the expectations set at the beginning of each project, and that customer requirements are clearly documented.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to systems, documentation and processes.
  • Provide continuous training and development to the estimating team
  • Attend weekly production planning meetings to be aware of work requirements and provide updates on task completions for tender / contract / variation / production estimates
  • Review / read / understand all sales documentation to become familiar with the project before starting costing work and identify any missing or incorrect elements or any potential areas of risk in the project
  • Determine appropriate inclusions, exclusions and assumptions to be incorporated in the tender / costing, and ensure they are clearly listed in all worksheets, BOQs and submission documents.

WHO YOU ARE

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Substantial knowledge of estimating for domestic construction in Victoria.
  • Ability to efficiently produce BOQs using Timberline and WMS, in addition to sales estimates with Framework.
  • Solid knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), Building Regulations and other relevant Australian Standards.
  • Knowledge of Town Planning and land/building subdivision process.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Timberline/WMS/Framework (preferred).
  • Experience tendering medium density projects or high-end custom homes (minimum five years preferred).
  • Drive and determination to produce results in line with preset time frames.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of problem solving, negotiation, and organisation skills.
