THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Permits Officer to support the greater west region, this role has flexibility to be based out of either our Geelong or Point Cook office, with some travel required to the other location from time to time. Managing a portfolio of jobs and applying for, securing, and administering all relevant building and construction related permits to ensure timely achievement of the ‘Authority to Commence Construction’. Reporting to the Operations Manager some key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Manage the asset protection/permit application process including payments
  • Issue and review pre-commencement reports with Construction Supervisors
  • Complete and review soil surveys
  • Manage plumbing industry commission and water utility applications
  • Ensure all relevant permit documentation is complete for ‘site start meetings’
  • Provide advice on council requirements and construction compliance with relevant Building Codes
  • Ensure the status of each client’s journey is updated daily via the update of workflow job notes
  • Establish and maintain an effective permits and compliance register and auditing system

WHAT YOU WILL OFFER

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has:

  • A construction qualification and/or equivalent industry experience
  • Excellent technical knowledge to identify and apply relevant Building Codes and Building Regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and structural calculations
  • Knowledge of associated legislation and changes in industry standards
  • A commitment to deliver a high-quality service and meet set targets
  • An ability to effectively discuss and resolve problems of a technical and/or general nature
