Based on the principle of "builders training builders", BAA draws on its deep connections to Simonds Homes to ensure it provides the highest quality curriculum and training services to meet industry needs. In 2018 BAA was announced as the Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year at the Victorian Training Awards.


We are looking for qualified and experienced Trainers and Assessors to deliver Certificate III in Carpentry on a contract basis at various metropolitan locations in the North, South, East and West of Melbourne.

Reporting to the Apprenticeships Manager, we have a range of days available for teaching which will generally occur between the hours of 7:30am and 5:00pm and may take place in either our simulated workplace training environments or in the workplace itself.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • The delivery and assessment of the CPC30211 Certificate III in Carpentry qualification in part or full
  • Consulting with key clients on their existing and future workforce training needs
  • The review, validation, moderation and continuous improvement of the training resources and assessments for the qualifications above
  • Local travel to client building sites


To be considered for this role, you must hold/be:

  • Recent industry experience (of at least 5 years and current)
  • CPC30211 Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent qualifications or have sufficient and current vocational competence that would allow for a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process to be completed
  • TAE40110 or TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Able to work as a Sole Trader with a current ABN
  • A current Working with Children’s Check
  • A current drivers licence
  • Demonstrated ability in high level communication, negotiation and consultation skills and expertise in providing high level advice on a range of complex matters
  • Self-motivated and confident; have a positive attitude and willingness to embrace change
  • Strong relationship building skills with expertise in the effective management of diverse internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Sound knowledge of operational requirements in relation to the Standards for Registered Training Organisations.

You will possess an interest in imparting your industry knowledge to those eager to learn and expand their careers as carpenters through an apprenticeship model. You have a strong customer focus, and the ability to multi-task and be flexible and adaptable in your approach.

You will be an exceptional communicator, who is able to work well both autonomously and in a team environment. The capability to build rapport and have demonstrated planning, organisational and time management skills are crucial to the role.
