Builders Academy Australia (BAA) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that works with employers, industry and students to achieve exceptional training results. BAA was established by Simonds in 2005 for the purpose of training Simonds staff and the staff of Simonds suppliers and partners in VET courses in the residential construction sector.

Based on the principle of “builders training builders”, BAA draws on its deep connections to Simonds Homes to ensure it provides the highest quality curriculum and training services to meet industry needs. In 2018, BAA was recognised as the Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year after being a finalist for the same award in 2017.

BAA includes two RTO's: House of Learning Pty Ltd trading as Builders Academy Australia (National RTO Code 21583) & City-Wide Building & Training Services Pty LTD trading as CWBTS (National RTO Code 91138).


This important role will work in combination the National Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager to oversee the Compliance, Resource Development and Data Quality teams within the organisation.

Based at our St Kilda Road Head office, and as a member of the Management team, you will also work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure that all aspects of day to day operations are being delivered professionally, with a student centricity and aligned with statutory, funding contract and company obligations.  

Although this role is offered at full-time, applicants looking at part time roles will also be considered.

Key Tasks include;

This role is to undertake the following key tasks for both Builders Academy Australia (House of Learning - RTO ID 21583) and CWBTS (RTO ID 91138) RTO’s:

  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement and innovation strongly aligned with organizational values and high quality student learning outcomes;
  • Writing, reviewing, updating and implementing policy and procedure documents relating to Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 (RTO Standards) and State and Federal funding contracts;
  • Liaising closely with key departments to ensure smooth execution of quality processes and provide advice relating to Quality Assurance;
  • Helping to managing and support other teams against strategic objectives and KPIs including training operations;
  • Implementing and maintaining quality assurance systems, to ensure all quality and compliance requirements are met within the organisation;
  • Providing strategic people leadership, coaching and training with a focus on developing and implementing streamlined functions, communications and sustainable operational excellence; and
  • Influencing and negotiating key business and commercial decisions as part of the Management team.



We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on individual who upholds the highest standards and will lead by example.  You will have demonstrated success in a similar senior role within an RTO environment and have a commitment to ensuring best practice.

It will be critical that the successful applicant can create and foster close working relationships with all key staff within the team.  To do this they will be a good communicator, supportive and have a 'can-do' attitude.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Have a track record in building strong relationships with major customers, clients and government agencies;
  • Experience in leading and supporting high performing teams in the tertiary education sector including multi-disciplinary departments;
  • A deep current working knowledge of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 (RTO Standards);
  • Hold in depth knowledge of operational requirements in relation to State and Federal funding contracts which may include: Skills First, Certificate 3 Guarantee, Higher Level Skills & User Choice (Queensland), Smart & Skilled (NSW) and VET Student Loans (desired);
  • Hold in depth knowledge of operational and compliance requirements in relation to CRICOS delivery with BAA recently approved for delivery to International students (advantages yet not essential);
  • Outstanding interpersonal & communication skills;
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in TAE or higher level educational qualifications (desirable);
  • Qualification in Auditing, Business Management or similar (desirable);
  • Ability to meet ASQA Fit & Proper persons requirements.
